Jody Giachello is an experienced Drummer and producer in the L.A. music scene.

 

     Jody Giachello aka Fourth Dimension (4D) is an innovative drummer/producer from Long Beach, California. Born 3/30/86, playing drums has always been a huge part of his life. Thanks to his father being a drummer, and starting to teach him how to play at the age of 2. Also having an older brother that plays drums, an over abundance of drum videos, records, and educational material to learn from. So naturally performing became a huge part of his life. From participating in his first talent show and playing on local network Television at the age of 3, to sitting in on his fathers rock, country, and blues gigs throughout his elementary school years. But not until entering 7th grade and playing in a Jazz Band at McAuliffe Middle School directed by Chuck Wackerman, would he soon realize his true love for music, and decide that this would be his passion and career. Giachello went on to receive many awards for his playing throughout middle school and high school: Including ''The Most Outstanding High School Performer'' at the Reno Jazz Festival 2 years in a row, while playing drums in the Jazz Combo 1 and Big Band at the Orange County High School of the Arts, under the direction of Bijon Watson. He also had the privilege of performing with Grammy award winning artist David Benoit on several occasions. and would regularly do gigs at clubs around LA with members of the Monk Institute. He also grew up playing with many local up and coming jazz artists and musicians on a regular basis while playing in the Multi School Jazz Band directed by Reggie Andrews.

 

    He then went on to get further education after receiving a scholarship to Berklee College of Music 2004-2006. While there, he studied privately with Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Jazz drummer Francisco Mela. He also had the opportunity to be in several of the legendary Hal Crook ensemble's for 3 semester's, and also gig with Hal's band in Rhode Island. Hal would end up being Giachello's most influential teacher, who would inscribe the idea of always striving to play "Great", and had many improvisational technics that would go on to shape Jody's sound into what it is today.

 

    After college he then performed at The Rose Bowl, toured the USA, and Bern, Switzerland with Concord Records jazz prodigy Taylor Eigsti. He then Played with Joe Firstman in the house band on Last Call with Carson Daily on NBC. Toured the country twice with his band Chotto Ghetto. Which has had the privilege to open for Fishbone, RX Bandits, BTMI, and Anti Flag. He also toured the East and West Coast, and played on VH1's Morning Buzz with Gold Record selling artist V V Brown in the fall of 2011. He then went on to tour around the globe throughout (2013-14) with the band 'Z' performing for The Illusionists, the world's largest traveling magic show. They have performed for sold out crowds in Australia, New Zealand,  Dubai (Including the Sheikh and Royal Family), United Kingdom, Scotland, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, and Lebanon. The Illusionists made it's grand appearance to the U.S. for the first time in fall 2014, kicking off their record breaking 6 week run on Broadway at the Marquis Theatre. Immediately followed by a highly successful 6 month North American Tour, performing 8 shows, 6 days a week at Theaters all over the Country. Due to popular demand they returned this last winter to Broadway Nov 19 - Jan 3rd, at the Neil Simon Theatre with another record breaking run. Giachello also performed with The Illusionists for a TV special on ITV, the largest network in the UK, filmed at the Hammersmith Apollo in London. He also performed with the Illusionists as special guests 2 years in a row on NBC's Americas Got Talent at the historic Radio City Music Hall in promotion for both run's on Broadway.

 

    Jody composes and produces his own music under the alias FourthDimension (4D), and his currently signed with Long Beach based label, Dank Radio. He released his 'Tesseract EP' on 9/23/14. Which is a multidimensional fusion jazz album. Featuring: Dustin Moore (Neon Phoenix) on Bass & Keys (NAS & The Illusionists), and Christian Wunderlich on Guitar (Mayor Hawthorne). All music was written, recorded, performed, mixed and produced by 4D (Jody Giachello). Prior to this, he released his first EP 'Year of the Dragon' on 1/1/13, which is all programmed by 4D and has no live instruments. Giachello's drumming can also be heard on Chotto Ghetto's first full length album 'Sparkles'. Which was released on Asian Man Records 9/11/12, and also their 17 track cover album released on Quote Unquote Records 2/14/13 entitled 'Lover Covers'. Chotto Ghetto recently finished mastering their next full length album 'Monstrosity', set to be released May, 5th 2017. 4D has also completed his highly anticipated full length album debut 'Millennial Kingdom' that is to be released this spring 3/31/17 on Dank Radio. 

 

    When Giachello is not on the road, you can catch him playing every Thursday - Saturday night at his 5 year residency at the Quiet Woman in Corona Del Mar. Or you could hear his original music through the airwaves on Dank Radio, KPFK 90.7FM.
